Woman extradicted to face US charges

The Venezuelan wife of a Bermudian has been extradited off the Island to face theft charges in Florida.

Xiomara Curley, a 30 year old Devonshire resident, was denied bail by Magistrate Edward King when she appeared in court last week. US authorities had requested her extradtion after she failed to show up in a Florida court in June and July last year.

Curley waived her right to an extradition hearing.

The Royal Gazette understands that she was arrested in the US, where she worked as an accounts receivable supervisor in March last year and was released on bail. She married a Bermudian shortly after her arrest and moved to the Island.

This week a Police spokesman confirmed that US marshals escorted her back to the US on Monday.
