Angry teachers set to march on Parliament
Teachers are expected to march on Parliament today after a union meeting last night.
The majority of teachers present at the meeting expressed concern and outrage after Education Minister Milton Scott prohibited teachers and school administrators from suspending students few weeks.
Although Bermuda Union of Teachers President Anthony Wolffe declined to comment, most teachers wore smiles as they left the Ruth Seaton James auditorium.
One teacher said: "We're going to march, we're going to march tomorrow," pointing her finger at a colleague. Another asked friends to march at 3.30 p.m., today.
Waves of applause could be heard outside Ruth Seaton James auditorium last night as the meeting became a pointed release of pent-up frustration. Some gently apologised to others - the mood after the meeting was friendly and cooperative.
