Police probe sickness
Police are looking into what has caused three women working at Police Headquarters at Prospect to call in sick in the past few days.
It is understood the women, who work in the Police administration building where Commissioner Jonathan Smith has his office, are suffering from blurred vision and headaches.
ZBM reported yesterday that they had become sick as a result of the building. But yesterday Police spokesman Dwayne Caines said it was too early to say if there was a definite link between the women's illness and the building.
"There is no definitive proof to suggest that what the women are going through is as a direct result of their being in the administration building," said Mr. Caines.
"But we are conducting tests and will be able to make a more informed decision in the near future."
The Police buildings at Prospect have been at the centre of a number of health concerns over the years.
A number of former Police who lived there in the 1950s and 1960s when they were barracks have died of cancer.
And in 2001, work to remove asbestos from the buildings was halted after a number of Policemen were hospitalised after inhaling chemicals.
