A Somerset family was forced to evacuate their Tribe Road # 2 residence last night after a second floodlighting pole at nearby Somerset Cricket Club came crashing down during yesterday?s high winds.

As a precautionary measure, the family decided best to vacate their premises late yesterday afternoon for fear of a third floodlighting pole ? erected directly in front of their home ? plummeting to earth during yesterday?s blustery conditions.

?All you heard was a big crash when the other pole fell and now there is another one right outside my house that is swaying very badly in an easterly direction,? an eyewitness told .

?If this pole falls in the same direction as the other pole, then there?s a strong possibility it could hit my house. And my neighbours have already vacated their premises because they are directly in harm?s way.?

Earlier this month all football matches scheduled for Somerset Cricket Club were postponed after a first floodlighting pole came down under mysterious circumstances in the facility?s parking lot.

Government inspectors and planning officials were summoned to investigate the incident before a recommendation was made to remove other poles at the venue for fear of a similar incident occurring.

However, understands that the high winds that have buffeted the island for nearly two weeks now has halted work to remove the poles.

When contacted last night, Somerset Cricket Club president Richard Scott assured concerned residents that the poles ?will be taken down? as soon as possible.

?From what I understand the weather is supposed to be better tomorrow, and so we are definitely going to take advantage of the weather to get the job completed,? Scott said.
