Arsenal could win the 'Treble'

"ARSENAL play Chelsea this weekend in the quarter finals of the FA Cup. And while Chelsea have some great players like Zola, I think Arsenal will come away winners. In fact I think that Arsenal could win the 'Treble' - the Premier League championship, FA Cup and the Champions League. Manchester United did it in 1999 and now I think Arsenal have the quality to do it. But it will not be easy.

I am pretty confident that Arsenal will win the league - they are five points ahead of United and I do not see them slipping up. If they can get by Chelsea this weekend I think they will win the FA Cup and of course they are still competing in the Champions League.

LEAGUE CUP

Liverpool did well to win the League Cup 2-0 last weekend against Manchester United. Liverpool's keeper Dudek was brilliant - he made so many saves and made up for his last game against United where he had a bit of a howler. In fact it was after that game when he was benched for quite a while. He is a class keeper and I remember him well from when he played in Holland.

I think United's only chance now of winning a trophy is in the Champions League where they have been playing well. I would guess that is where they are going to put their energy in.

FA CUP

While Arsenal against Chelsea is the glamour tie this weekend you also have Wolves going to Southampton which could be a good match. It will also have the added spice of Wolves manager Dave Jones going back to play his old team. And no doubt he will be looking for revenge. He was pushed out of Southampton a few years ago when he was accused of child abuse of which he was later found innocent. I imagine he has bad feelings about Southampton.

Leeds, who are having a terrible season and were just beaten on Wednesday by Manchester United, still have something to fight for as they are still in the cup and play Sheffield United which will not be an easy game. The other quarter final is Watford against Burnley. It is good to see four teams not from the Premier League still in with a chance.

MANCHESTER CITY

A number of clubs are in financial trouble - Leeds in particular - and I see now that the chairman (David Bernstein) of Manchester City has resigned because he wanted to keep a tight control of the spending.

City have to watch it. Kevin Keegan likes to spend money - he spent a lot at Newcastle when he was manager there - but if you do not have a lot of cash coming in you can find yourself in a hole. Being in the Champions League brings in much needed cash but I cannot see City getting anywhere near qualification for the Champions League. Keegan has already spent a lot of money since he has been at City signing among other players, Robbie Fowler and Nicolas Anelka.

JUNINHO

It is good to see the little Brazilian Juninho back playing again for Middlesbrough. He has been injured for six months and in his first game back he scored in the 1-1 draw with Everton. He is a great little player and the fans love him - I think something like 20,000 came out to watch him play in a reserve game before the Everton match!

REAL MADRID

Well Real are finally leading the Spanish league - and what a game they had last weekend when they won 5-1 against Alaves. Ronaldo showed why he is the World Player of the Year with a great hat-trick. On one of the goals he used his trademark stepover. He does that better than anyone in the world. Even if you know he is going to do it he still beats you because he is so fast.

Real Sociedad, who led the league until last week, suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Valladolid. They have done really well to stay up there at the top for so long since they are not what we would call a big club. But even is they do not win the league, at least they should get a Champions League place next season and they deserve it.

NORTH VILLAGE

Village won Bermuda's Premier Division title on the weekend and it comes as no surprise to me at all. They have some good players - the best group on the island. Congratulations to them.
