Schooner gets a name tonight

The name of the Bermuda training schooner due to arrive in Bermuda next May will be unveiled on board the Freedom Schooner tonight at 7 p.m. The name chosen for the Island?s first-ever training schooner will be announced on board the historic replica ship currently in Dockyard at the Clock Tower Wharf.
The contest to name the three-masted, 88-foot purpose-built sailing schooner closed on April 1. Chairman Jim Amos said the resounding response resulted in 288 name proposals from 120 residents.
