Cook to leave Axis Capital
Andrew Cook, chief financial officer of Bermuda insurer Axis Capital, said yesterday he will quit the company by April 1, citing personal reasons.
"The past couple of years have been difficult for me on a personal basis, and I look forward to being able to spend more time with my family," Mr. Cook said in a company statement.
Axis said it had begun an executive search for Mr. Cook's replacement. Mr. Cook joined Axis as chief financial officer in 2001, when the company formed.
John Charman, Axis CEO and president, said: "Andrew has been instrumental in advancing our financial reporting practices, directing our activities in the capital markets and developing our relationships with both the investment community and the rating agencies.
"Andrew has played a major part in the evolution of AXIS as a leading global insurance and reinsurance company."
The company said Mr. Cook was not leaving the company right away in the interest of ensuring a smooth transition.
