The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index yesterday edged up 2.87 points, or 0.8 percent, as Bank of Butterfield shares closed at $45.50.

Bank of Butterfield gained 25 cents as investors traded in 267 shares and Belco Holdings Ltd fell $1 on volume 200 shares to close at $40.

Argus Insurance Company traded in 800 shares to close at $27 and Bermuda Container Line traded in 600 shares to close at $14.95.

The total value of the shares bought and sold on the BSX yesterday was $50,696.75 and the overall volume of shares was 1,867 to close at 3,773.16.
