When Terry Norsworthy had a stroke last year, his life changed dramatically.

The 60-year-old IT manager, who was left paralysed down his left side, was confined to a wheelchair and had to retire.

But perhaps his biggest regret was that he and his wife, Georgina, could no longer spend time on the water.

But that changed on Saturday when the couple, from Paget, took a trip to Horseshoe Bay in Southampton and Mr Cordon-Norsworthy was at last able to take the plunge in a special floating wheelchair.

Mrs Cordon-Norsworthy praised two concession stand staff – Justin Fully and colleague Rai Simons – who wheeled her husband down to the beach and spent time with him in the water.

Mrs Cordon-Norsworthy said: “They really did go above and beyond.

“They absolutely made Terry’s Father’s Day weekend – the best day he’s had since his stroke.

“These two young men are amazing, and I would love to see them recognised.”

Mrs Cordon-Norsworthy added: “It is incredibly frustrating for people who are in wheelchairs when they can’t get into the water.”

She added: “My husband was desperate to get into the water – we’re boat people and that’s something we haven’t been able to do since Terry had a massive stroke last July.

“But we heard that Horseshoe Bay used to have a wheelchair specially designed for the beach and so went down to see if they still had it.”
