St George’s hold first Cup Match trial
St George’s will play the first of three Cup Match trials today when two select teams captained by Onias Bascome and George O’Brien meet at Wellington Oval.
The challengers will play three trials ahead of the Annual Classic on July 29 and 30. The second takes place next Saturday, before the traditional final trial is held on July 24, the day of the team selection at both clubs.
Team A: Onias Bascome (captain), Reggie Baker, Detroy Smith, Dean Simons, Q’Shai Darrell, Kijuan Franks, Macai Simmons, Kyle Hodsoll, Cejay Outerbridge, Jelani Richardson, Sancho Jackson, Isaiah Greaves.
Team B: George O'Brien (captain), Oronde Bascome, Makai Young, Coolidge Durham, Charles Trott, Dajon Carey, Temiko Wilson, Justin Pitcher, Tybrae Robinson, Jordan Burgess, Keith Whorms, Rohan Richardson.
Players are asked to be at the field at 9am to prepare for a 10am start.
Twenty20 league action continues tomorrow with two matches in each division.
The Premier Division match between Southampton Rangers and St George’s, and the First Division fixture between Cleveland and Warwick have been postponed.
St David’s will look to bounce back from their opening loss to Rangers last weekend when they travel to Sea Breeze Oval to meet Bailey’s Bay, their Eastern Counties rivals, while a West End derby will take place at Somerset Cricket Club, where Willow Cuts will play Somerset.
In the First Division, Flatts face PHC at Somerset and Western Stars play their first match against Somerset Bridge at Sea Breeze Oval.
The First Division matches start at 11am and the Premier Division matches at 3.00.
