The following was sent to Judy Simons, president of the Bermuda Olympic Association.

Dear Judy,

I was disappointed with BOA's announcement yesterday (July 2, 2021). When athletes/swimmers like Madelyn Moore and Jesse Washington have put in the time, had excellent results and fallen just short, the system should recognise their potential and allow them to participate and learn from, hopefully, what is their first Olympic experience.

I note the International Olympic Committee welcomes them, as it truly understands the value of attending this event, and the potential growing experience for these athletes.

I urge the BOA committee to reconsider its position in the interests of stimulating Olympic aspirations. Especially as Bermuda recovers from Covid, we need good news and signs of hope and encouragement.

There is every good reason to make a special case for these two swimmers and I believe it would be beneficial, publicly, to the BOA if this special exception is granted.

I appeal, yet again, that this matter be reconsidered this weekend and before the July 5 penultimate deadline.
