Enterprise thrives on popularity of its rain jackets
It’s the middle of summer, and buying a rain jacket is probably not high on many people’s to do list.
But it should be, if they are keen on owning a rain jacket from Bermuda’s Jamie Madison Collection and want to avoid disappointment.
The brand was created five years ago by Jamie Ramsay, and it has been a success. Demand has been so high, particularly for the all black rain “Vader”, and the “Cement Onyx”, that the Jamie Madison Collection has launched a “Christmas in July” campaign to encourage customers to pre-order to avoid disappointment.
Mr Ramsay has been overwhelmed by the reception to the brand since it started in 2016. He said: “To know that our customers have been happy with the product - both aesthetically and with the quality - is motivation for us to continue. Each time we have a new colour combination to offer, we hear about the collections folks have in their closets, the other people in their families they’re buying for. And now that we’ve expanded into children’s sizes, the brand has grown considerably and is becoming a household name for local apparel.”
Bermuda is stamped in stylised writing on the sleeve of the rain jackets.
Explaining the Christmas in July campaign, Schereene Outerbridge, campaign manager for Jamie Madison Collection, said: “It’s summertime, the weather is heating up, and Bermuda is rolling from one holiday long weekend to another. The good vibes are coming back as the Island emerges from a Covid slumber - and Jamie Madison Collection wants to continue that positive momentum. It’s never too early to be prepared for the cooler seasons and foul weather.”
The brand, named after Mr Ramsay’s daughter, is aiming to expand its offerings.
Mr Ramsay said: “We have prototypes in the works, one of which are for rain pants to compliment the rain jackets. The brand is expanding its offerings. We listen to what our customers are asking for and adapt the ideas accordingly.”
