The Minister of Health said there was “cause for cautious optimism” as no new cases of Covid were reported over three days.

The Ministry of Health received 6,362 test results which were all negative for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Kim Wilson said last night: “I want to thank the community for continuing to do their part in following the guidelines to ensure they are keeping themselves and their families safe.”

Ms Wilson encouraged Bermuda’s young people, who have not been vaccinated to speak with their doctor to make what she called an “informed decision”.

She added: “In the coming weeks the Ministry of Health will provide updates and answer any questions our young people may have about getting the Covid-19 vaccination.”

There were four recoveries and no deaths since the last update.

Currently there are 11 active cases, all of which are under public health monitoring. No one is currently hospitalised with Covid.

Bermuda has recorded 2,521 confirmed cases since March 2020. Of those 2,477 have recovered and 33 have died.

Of all cases, 325 were travellers and 2,193 were locally transmitted. Of the local cases 1,697 were with a known contact, 496 were with an unknown contact and three remain under investigation.

Bermuda’s World Health Organisation status remains at Sporadic Cases and its real time reproduction number is less than one.

The Vaccination Centre at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital is open for appointments and walk-ins from Monday to Friday from 4pm to 7pm, and on Saturday from 8am to 12pm.

The centre will be closed on Sunday.
