Bermuda has recorded another three cases of the Covid-19 virus, according to test results released by the department of health on Friday night.

The results came from a batch of 6,535 tests conducted on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and bring the number of active cases to 17 – up from 15 earlier in the week and the highest since June 30.

Two of the new cases were imported from residents – one flying in on the BA flight on July 13, the other arriving on a Delta flight from Atlanta on July 16.

The third case is under investigation. A health ministry spokeswoman said: “This case is among a resident with no currently identified link to other known cases or history of travel in the past 14 days.”

All 17 cases are under public health monitoring, and none of the carriers have needed to be hospitalised.

Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 2,538 total confirmed cases of Covid-19; out of those, 2,488 persons have recovered, and there were 33 COVID-related deaths.
