More than 70 volunteers working with Bermuda’s youth through the Mirrors programme have been recognised at an awards ceremony.

The volunteers were acknowledged at the Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Ceremony hosted by Mirrors Alumni and Friends Association, and Burrows Lightbourn Ltd at Masterworks last month.

Attending the ceremony, Ernest Peets, the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, said: "Over the past year, when we experienced the physical, emotional, mental and financial effects of the pandemic, you leant in to support others.

“Thank you for caring and not just feeling or thinking about it but doing something about it.

"You have given selflessly of two of the most precious resources – yourselves and your time. Today, I want you to know how much your dedication is appreciated.

“Whether you are a long-time volunteer or if you got involved recently, it's important for you to know that you have made a difference in transforming our youth, and we are for ever grateful".

During the ceremony, the following volunteers were recognised for their dedication.

Volunteer of the Year Award: Kim Greene

Alumni and Friends Association Outstanding Board Member Award: John Perinchief

Special honouree, customer service award: Sahrika DeSilva

Special honouree, creation of a Mirrors branded song: Patricia Ann O'Connor

Special honouree, photography and videography support for presentations: Eric Woods

Special honouree, long term service award: Nathan Darrell

Transformation through coaching award: Antoine Lightbourne, Cerepha Bridgeman, David Stubbs, Pamela Blackwood and Patrice Brown

Stakeholder of the Year Award: Burrows Lightbourn Ltd.

Special mention certificates were awarded to individuals that completed between three and four volunteer roles with Mirrors; David Stubbs, Lakray DeGrilla, Meishka Zuill, Pamela Blackwood and Samaria Pitt

In addition, bronze Level pining was awarded to Delores Thompson and Tracey Wilkinson, who had completed between five and six volunteer roles with Mirrors. –
