Trenching work on Middle Road
Traffic will be restricted on a section of Middle Road this weekend as Belco trenching work continues in Warwick.
A Ministry of Public Works spokesman said that work will be carried out near the junction of Middle Road and St Mary’s Road between 7.30am and 6pm on Saturday and Sunday.
“Traffic controls will be under direction of Intelligent Trenching representatives and will be managed through traffic control signals and signage,” the spokesman said.
“The motoring public travelling west is advised to seek alternative routes via Khyber Pass to South Road or via Longford Road to Harbour Road to avoid this trench work sections.
“The motoring public travelling east is advised to seek alternative routes via Tamarind Vale Street to Harbour Road or Camp Hill to South Road to avoid this trench work section.”
Meanwhile Bermuda Land Development Company (BLDC) trenching work in St George’s is expected to continue until November 5, after a temporary pause over the Cup Match holiday weekend.
“The trench works will commence from Tiger's Bay pumping station at Penno's Wharf and within two weeks enter Mullet Bay Road heading west to Rocky Hill Park in St George's,” the spokesman said.
“The trench work will be in the eastbound lane and possibly switch over to the westbound lane on Mullet Bay Road depending on existing underground utility lines.”
Motorists are advised to avoid the Penno’s Wharf parking area for the next two weeks and use caution when passing the open trench.
