Bermuda’s number of fully vaccinated people nudged up to 64.4 per cent, with 65.7 per cent of the population getting one jab.

It marks a slight rise from the 64.1 per cent of immunised residents reported last week.

Over the 30 weeks of vaccination on the island, 83,543 doses have been given.

In people aged 65 and over, 81.4 per cent are fully immunised, while 82.7 per cent of seniors have received one shot against the virus.

Women account for 52 per cent and men are 48 per cent of the vaccinated.

Kim Wilson, the health minister, added during a Covid press conference last night: “As I have repeatedly stressed, the vaccine against Covid-19 is one of the single most important measures to keep our community safe.

“Vaccination prevents approximately 80 per cent of symptomatic infection, and approximately 96 per cent of hospitalisations and deaths.

“Vaccines also appear to reduce transmission.”
