Feed My Lambs appeals to public for Haiti earthquake aid
A charity working to send aid to Haiti following a devastating earthquake is calling for volunteers.
Feed My Lambs Ministry is organising a Tag Day on Wednesday, September 15 to help with fundraising efforts.
The charity has a school that educates 700 Haitian children, an orphanage for 62 children, and provides medical and dental services to the community. Money will help to fund the programmes, including the attendance of 20 students at a university as well as community outreach programmes for those in need.
Linda Adderley, fundraising coordinator for Feed My Lambs, said: “This is an extremely important cause and we need the help of volunteers. We have been working in Haiti for 12 years and will ensure that all funds will be allocated where they need to be. It promises to make the difference in the lives of the least fortunate for this most unfortunate situation there in Haiti.”
Haiti suffered a 7.2-magnitude quake on August 14. It struck 8km from Petit Trou de Nippes, a town about 150km west of the capital Port-au-Prince.
Phillip Rego, the Bermudian who launched the charity in 2009 to serve the people of Haiti, is also planning to send a shipping container full of non-perishable food, shoes and clothes in the coming weeks and is calling on Bermuda to donate.
Anyone wishing to donate to the cause can do so via two Clarien Bank accounts.
The Swift Code for those transferring from overseas, is CAGPBMHM
