Sustainable farming workshops offered

An organisation devoted to the grow biointensive method of sustainable farming is to hold three workshops this fall to teach people how to grow food in their garden.

The AgraLiving Institute is led by founder Chris Faria, a graduate of the Ignite Bermuda entrepreneurial accelerator programme.

The grow biointensive method of farming requires less water, less fertiliser and less energy while reducing land need.

Garden Planning for Success will be held on Saturday September 18 from 10am until 1pm at a cost of $95.

Sustainable Farming 101 will be held Saturday September 25, Sunday October 24, and Sunday November 13 from 9.30am until 3pm each day. A plant-based lunch is provided. The cost is $185.

TomatoMania! is to take place on Saturday December 4 from 10am until 1pm at a cost of $95.

Organisers said: “These dynamic workshops are aimed to give you the necessary skills and confidence to start growing your own food at home. They are also amazing opportunities to be part of a community that's passionate about sustainable food-raising.”

All courses will be held in the Education Garden at the Botanical Gardens in Devonshire.
