Centre for the disabled shut after Covid-19 exposure
A Government-run centre for disabled adults has been closed after a coronavirus exposure.
Tinee Furbert, the Minister of Social Development and Seniors, said that the K Margaret Carter Centre in Devonshire had been “deep cleaned".
She added: “The Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit has advised that KMCC remains closed until a full risk assessment is completed.”
Ms Furbert said that an update would be issued after more information was received from the Department of Health.
She added: “Each of us has a role to play in stopping the spread of the coronavirus.
“Please follow public health guidelines, wear a mask, practise good hand hygiene, maintain physical distance and download the WeHealth Bermuda app.”
The Government website said that the KMCC provided “support and training for adults with learning and physical disabilities through six programme areas".
It added: “Our clients range in age from 18 to over 50.
“Their cognitive challenges range from mild to moderate and result in learning disabilities secondary to Down syndrome, autism, or other congenital disorders.”
