Promotions for lawyers at Appleby
Four lawyers have been promoted in the Bermuda office of the international law firm Appleby.
Bermudians Tiffany Boys and Matthew Carr have been promoted to partner.
Andrew Kuzma and Josephine Noddings have been promoted to counsel, pending immigration approval.
All four lawyers are members of the firm’s corporate practice group.
Ms Boys joined Appleby in 2010 as a trainee and was called to the Bermuda Bar in 2011.
The firm said that she maintains a diversified business practice including cross-border mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures, corporate finance and secured and unsecured lending transactions, with extensive experience in the area of asset-financed transactions.
Ms Boys’s practice also includes the registration of ships and aircraft in Bermuda and the incorporation of special-purpose vehicles to acquire, manage or lease the same.
She has advised both lenders and borrowers in numerous cross-jurisdictional transactions and is recognised by Legal 500 as a “rising star” in the banking, finance and capital markets category, the firm said.
Mr Carr also joined Appleby in 2010 as a trainee and was called to the Bermuda Bar in 2011.
The firm said that he has experience in a wide array of insurance and reinsurance matters involving captives, catastrophe bonds, special purpose insurers and long-term and general business commercial re/insurers.
Mr Carr’s practice includes the provision of structural and regulatory advice for new and existing re/insurers and he is frequently involved in the licensing process for new re/insurance structures, the firm said.
He is a member of the Bermuda Business Development Agency’s captive insurance committee and is recognised by Legal 500 as a “rising star” in the insurance/reinsurance category, the firm said.
Mr Kuzma was admitted to the Law Society of Alberta in 2013 and joined Appleby in 2017.
The firm said that he practises in the corporate group within the areas of securities and corporate law, capital markets, public offerings, private placements, corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, banking and finance, corporate governance and reorganisations.
Mr Kuzma provides legal advice to industry leaders in a wide array of sectors such as telecommunications, energy, asset management, infrastructure development, pharmaceuticals, shipping, banking and finance, insurance and private equity funds, the firm said.
Before joining Appleby, he articled and then practised at a top-tier law firm in Calgary. Alberta, Canada.
Ms Noddings was admitted to practise as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2012 and joined Appleby in 2017.
The firm said that she practises in all areas of corporate law, including insurance, regulation and M&A. Her practice also includes advising on the structuring and formation of investment funds, including master and feeder structures, and ILS funds.
Ms Noddings is a member of Appleby’s global technology group, providing comprehensive advice in connection with all aspects of initial coin offerings and the carrying on of digital asset business.
Appleby said that she is recognised by Legal 500 as a “rising star” in the corporate category, recommended in the insurance/reinsurance category and recognised by IFLR as a “notable practitioner”.
