Belco offers apprentice training to Bermudians
Belco has launched its apprenticeship programme, which provides an earn-as-you-learn opportunity for successful applicants.
The company said that the programme has been redesigned to give worthy applicants an opportunity and the best chance of success in securing a rewarding and challenging career at Belco.
The four-year programme offers successful applicants the opportunity to train in a structured way towards a career. It blends technical training and academic study with work-based learning to kick-start careers in Bermuda’s evolving energy industry with apprentices earning as they learn, Belco said.
Upon completion of the programme, successful candidates are assessed for progression to graded positions and placed in designated areas of the business for the foreseeable future.
Apprentices fill a variety of roles within the company including electrical fitters, mechanical fitters, line workers and electrical joiners.
Belco said that the programme has evolved over the past 30 years and many members of the company’s skilled workforce are past apprentices who graduated from the programme and are now employed full-time at the company.
Belco president Wayne Caines said: “At Belco we strongly believe in investing in our future. Our apprenticeship programme has been empowering young Bermudians for decades with the opportunity for hands-on training and to earn while they learn.
“Our apprentices can choose from a variety of roles and enjoy a lifelong career while serving the people of Bermuda.
“I would encourage anyone looking for an engaging, challenging and exciting career to apply for the programme and join our team who are building a sustainable energy future for Bermuda.”
The deadline for applications is October 18.
