Top teacher to be revealed later this month
The winner of a teacher of the year award will be revealed later this month.
The Bermuda Education Network’s Outstanding Teacher Award will come from a field of ten already announced.
Becky Ausenda, the executive director of the BEN, said teachers have had to overcome major problems and adapt to online teaching because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
She added: “Teachers have demonstrated tremendous resilience supporting students and their families during the pandemic.
“We hope the community will take a moment today to thank the teachers they know for the wonderful work they do.”
Stephanie Correia, Dean Foggo, Andrea Isaac, Troy King, Kendra Lightbourne, Vernon Lambe III, Patricia Nesbitt, Makeba Stowe, Winsome Wilson Place and Florence Brown were nominated for their work in schools.
All of the finalists will receive a cash prize after the awards won sponsorship from insurance and reinsurance firm Allied World.
The winning teacher – to be announced on October 21 – will also get a grant for a school project of their choice to be designed and implemented with BEN.
