Belco is to hold a virtual open house today to provide information about the organisation’s upcoming apprenticeship programme.

Hosted by Nadir Wade, managing director of bulk generation, the open house is an opportunity for anyone interested in applying for the programme to learn more about how to apply, the roles they can fill and ask any questions that they may have.

Also in attendance will be Liberty’s HR generalists Shaun Roberts and Kalita Furbert, along with George Fubler, former apprentice, electrical fitter — transmission, distribution and retail (Belco).

Mr Wade said: “This virtual open house will be a great opportunity to learn more and ask questions. I encourage anyone looking for an engaging, challenging and exciting career to apply for the programme and join our team who are building a sustainable energy future for Bermuda.”

The four-year programme offers successful applicants the opportunity to earn while training towards a career.

Upon completion, Belco said, successful candidates shall be assessed for progression to graded positions and placed in designated areas of the business for the foreseeable future.

Apprentices fill various roles within the company including electrical fitters, mechanical fitters, line workers and electrical joiners.

Belco said that many of the company’s skilled full-time workforce are past apprentices who graduated from the programme.
