Young people asked to submit climate change views for Minister to take to conference
Walter Roban, the home affairs minister, will go to Glasgow, Scotland, to attend COP26, the United Nations Climate Change Conference.
Mr Roban said he would carry the views of Bermuda’s young people with him.
The minister, who met student demonstrators on climate change in 2019, said: “Our young people have emerged as a strong voice in the global environmental movement and deserve an opportunity to be heard.
“This is especially true now as the leaders of today make the decisions that will impact tomorrow.
“We look forward to hearing their thoughts, ideas on the topics and sharing their message with the world leaders this November.”
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDGp9BgGCdoMr Roban called on students aged 18 and younger to submit written pieces up to 100 words. They can also submit picture and graphics, or video up to 60 seconds.
Submissions should address one of the following: biodiversity, the marine environment, land sustainability, climate resilience or emissions.
The winner from each topic will be considered for inclusion in the message from Bermuda at COP26.
The deadline for submission is October 22, with winners to be announced on October 26.
Video entries must be posted to the Bermuda Government’s Instagram page with the hashtag #BdaClimateChange.
