BNT offers cash prizes in young artist competition
Young artists can win cash prizes in an art competition held by the Bermuda National Trust.
The trust yesterday opened its doors to applications for their 2021 Student Art Competition, whose theme this year is “My Bermuda”.
Karen Border, the executive director of the BNT, said: “We are delighted to invite Bermuda’s young people to use their artistic skills to communicate what Bermuda means to them – whether that be aspects of the island’s natural heritage or cultural heritage, their own local connections, hopes for the island’s future, or whatever inspires them.”
The competition will be divided into age groups 9 to 12 and 13 to 18.
Entries can be paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, collages, multimedia pieces or digital artwork excluding videos.
The artwork will be shown during an exhibition next January.
First-place contestants in the 9 to 12 age group will receive $300, while those who place first in the 13 to 18 age group will receive $500.
Winning art pieces will also be featured on the BNT website.
Entries must be submitted at the Waterville building on Pomander Road, Paget, by December 10.
