The Somers Isles Trading Company, the retail concessionaire for Bermuda’s new air terminal at L F Wade International Airport, has won an award from the travel retail industry media group DFNI-Frontier.

Travel industry representatives attended the Frontier Awards ceremony at the Hôtel Barrière Le Majestic on Cannes Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes last month.

The Somers Isles Trading Company Ltd’s “Love Bermuda” entry won an award for “Best New Shop Opening”.

The Frontier Awards celebrate innovation, creativity and excellence within the travel retail industry. Award entries relate to products on sale or activities taking place in global travel retail.

DFNI-Frontier is a travel retail industry media group for travel retail executives and buyers and for brands, landlords and distributors.

The Somers Isles Trading Company was created for the new passenger terminal by owner and CEO Rhona Sutton using design and product development teams in London, New York and Bermuda.

She said: “As an entrepreneur and business founder, I’m thrilled to collaborate with so many Bermudian business owners and to champion the locally designed and produced brands.
