Woman charged with Covid-19 breach over party

A woman has denied throwing a party that broke Covid-19 regulations.

Shermaine Murphy, 46, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates’ Court on Monday to organising an event called “Pandemic Saturdays – Wet and Wild Edition” that had more than 50 people in attendance.

The incident was alleged to have happened on July 12 in Pembroke.

The regulations in force at the time of the alleged offence prohibited gatherings of more than 50 people in a bid to slow the spread of Covid-19.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case until December 13 and released Ms Murphy, from Pembroke, on $3,000 bail.
