Nouveau automobile for the rental market
Bermuda’s electric rental car pioneers have added some French flair to their fleet.
Current Vehicles has imported five Citroën Ami vehicles, featuring side-by-side seating, adding to its fleet of Twizys, which have single seats in both front and back of the vehicles.
Piers Carr, the founder and chief executive officer of Current, said: “We wanted to broaden our offering.
“The Twizys are popular, but it was difficult to get into the back seat for older people or people who have mobility issues, so we wanted a side-by-side seating option that is fully enclosed.”
He added: “The Citroën has proven to be an incredibly popular vehicle in Europe.”
Mr Carr said that the vehicles, which have a top speed of 29mph, are on the road now, and going through a testing phase.
He said that they will be launched exclusively on the Current Vehicles app by the end of next week.
The app is available on Google Play or via the App Store.
Mr Carr said that additional Citroën Ami vehicles are to arrive early next year.
