Ministry gives road closure update
Partial road closures in the East End will continue until the end of December, the Ministry of Public Works announced yesterday.
The westbound lane of Mullet Bay Road in St George’s will be closed as trench work starting in Penno’s Wharf continues.
The lane is expected to reopen on December 31 when the roadwork reaches the Rocky Hill Park entrance.
The work is expected to continue up Rose Hill and into the St George’s Club RO Plant.
Motorists, particularly those who drive construction vehicles, buses or taxis, are asked to be cautious when passing the open trench as it is often close to the yellow line and can be deep.
Any questions regarding the works should be directed to Stephen Tucker, the project manager of BLDC, at 501-3010.
Questions regarding traffic control should be sent to Tina Beer-Searle, acting principal highways engineer for the public works ministry, on 501-3044.
Coot Pond Road, St George’s, will also go through a partial road closure while a speed hump is installed between houses number 12 and number 16.
The partial road closure will take place on December 1 and 2. Barricades will be set up along both sides of the new hump.
Motorists coming from Tobacco bay will not be able to drive beyond house number 12 and motorists coming from the St Regis Hotel will not be able to drive beyond house number 16.
Hotel employees and visitors, as well as golf cart users and taxi drivers, will have to travel through Barry Road to access the hotel and Government Hill Road to access Tobacco bay Beach.
Pedestrians are asked to walk carefully over the speed hump.
Any questions regarding the closure should be directed to Ms Beer-Searle.
