Douglas hat-trick fires East Enders to big win
Allan Douglas jr?s late season cricket form spilled over into the football season at Wellington Oval yesterday.
Douglas fired a superb hat-trick to lead St.George?s to a comfortable win over an uninspired Hamilton Parish side who have now conceded 12 goals in two matches.
Jade Foggo, Brian Phipps and Jelani Carlington were also on target for the East Enders, while Parish?s Reginald Wilson netted an own goal.
Dwayne Tavares netted Hot Peppers? consolation from the penalty spot.
A goal 10 minutes into the second half by teenager Jordon Commissiong enabled visiting Devonshire Colts to earn a point from this top-of-the-table battle at Malabar.
Home side Rangers had never been behind in this competitive encounter but eventually saw victory slip away when young Commissiong found the target.
Jermaine Saltus put Rangers in front only to see Colts draw level through Aljame Zuill who converted a penalty. Jonathan Bean, however, re-established the one-goal lead for Rangers just before the teams ended the half.
Play was intense throughout the second half but only one team was able to find the goal and the game ended with the two sharing first place on four points.
Another evenly-balanced match at Bernard Park saw home side Social Club grab an early lead with Haile Matthews netting after 29 minutes, but Eagles delivered a late equaliser with Matthew Hollis finding the goal 12 minutes from the end.
Prospect were denied a first win of the season at Garrison Field yesterday.
Leonard Davis gave United the lead when he capitalised right on the stroke of half-time.
The visiting team then tried desperately to protect their slim lead, only to concede a 90th minute penalty that Thaaqib Talbot buried to earn his team a share of the spoils.
At Devonshire Rec. these two teams fought hard without finding a goal, both having to settle for a point.
First Division action resumes tomorrow night with Prospect scheduled to meet St. George?s at Devonshire Rec.
