Camiko Smith grabs 18-hole lead at Johnnie Walker Classic
Camiko Smith leads the pack at the halfway stage of the Johnnie Walker Classic at Ocean View Golf Course.
The professional carded a one-over 71 in wet and blustery conditions in the opening round at the Devonshire layout yesterday to carve out a three-shot advantage.
Smith got off to a shaky start with a double bogey and a bogey on the first two holes.
However, he managed to settle down and birdie two of the three par-three holes on the front nine to make the turn at one over.
Smith remained steady the rest of the way as he played the back nine at even par to finish the round in pole position.
In a three-way tie for second at four-over 74 are former European Tour player Kim Swan, Jarryd Dillas and Delyone Borden.
Former cricketer Borden was two under with four holes left to play but blew up coming in with a triple bogey and three bogeys which cost him the 18-hole lead.
Dillas leads the amateur division by two shots over former cricketer and footballer Mark Ray.
Tied for fifth are professional pair Chris Smith and Chaka DeSilva at five-over 75.
Larry Brangman and Calvin Hendrickson are tied for the lead in the senior division at eight-over 78.
The 36-hole championship continues today.
