International jury to judge National Gallery biennial
A panel of international jurors has been lined up for the 2022 Bermuda Biennial art exhibition.
A spokeswoman for organisers the Bermuda National Gallery said the theme of next year’s exhibition will be “A New Vocabulary: Past. Present. Future” and will give “a critical platform for our island's contemporary artists”.
The gallery has also expanded its categories to include a poetry section to accompany the visual art submissions.
Next year’s show will be juried by Claire Gilman, the chief curator at The Drawing Centre in New York, and Alexandria Smith, head of painting at the Royal College of Art in London.
Richard Georges, the first Poet Laureate of the British Virgin Islands, will be the juror for the poetry component.
The jurors will visit Bermuda next February to choose the works for the show.
The Biennial is open to Bermudians living at home and abroad, as well as residents who have lived in Bermuda for six months or more.
Artists, and writers can submit up to five works across different media.
The deadline for submissions is January 31.
