Hamilton Parish reclaimed first place in spectacular fashion with a 5-2 thrashing of Young Men’s Social Club in a top-of-the-table clash at PHC Field.

Nothing separated the teams at the interval as Jordan Outerbridge netted for Parish in the fourteenth minute before Clay Darrell replied for Social Club in the 37th.

However, things got more exciting in the second half after Social Club took a 55th minute lead through a Ryan Parris penalty after Jordan Burgess was adjudged to have handled inside the area.

Parish, unbeaten after three games, went close to equalising in the 65th minute when a ball into the penalty box saw Outerbridge challenge before the ball broke free to Macquille Walker who put his effort over the bar from a good position.

The Parish leveller came in the 67th minute when Zenikae Hendrickson, the Social Club defender, drove an attempted clearance into his own goal.

It was all Parish after that as they added a third in the 70th minute through Walker, as three goals came in the space of 13 minutes with Parish romping to a comfortable win.

Captain Mauriq Hill made it 4-2 in the 74th minute when he followed up after a ball into the box by Diego Richardson was blocked to score between the goalkeeper’s legs.

Substitute Deniche Hill, just back from a break at boarding school in England, closed out the scoring with a well-taken fifth goal in the 83rd minute, finding the net from the narrowest of angles on the left side of the penalty box.

The victory was a good boost for Parish as they have reclaimed top spot from the Bluebirds and with a couple of games in hand.

“It’s always a battle when we play Social Club because they come with the energy to beat us,” said Sergio Goater, the Parish coach. “Our lay off kind of hurt us a bit as it took a while to get into our rhythm.

“What changed the game for me was the substitutes, as we were down 2-1. It worked out in the end.

“It was a game of two halves, in the second half we were running at them.”

In the remaining First Division match, St David’s beat Ireland Rangers 1-0 at Malabar Field, with Cody Richardson scoring a second half penalty. It was the first loss of the season for Rangers.
