A law firm has made a donation to a charity set up to support people with Aids and their families.

Appleby donated food hampers, fruit baskets, gifts and vouchers to six families helped by Supportive Therapy for Aids Persons and their Relatives.

Tim Faries, Appleby’s Bermuda managing partner, said: “Star has been doing important work in the community for over 30 years.

“We hope our support each year helps to make Christmas a special time for our six Star families.

“We wish all the families the very best during the holiday season and in the new year. Thank you to our staff and partners for their generous donations.”

Star was set up in 1986 and it has benefited more than 170 people through its Lighthouse residential centre, which was designed to provide a family environment.

The charity also offers support to people with HIV through confidential counselling and visits by caregivers to homes, the hospital and the hospice.
