A restaurateur has introduced day time entertainment over the festive season in a bid to beat curfew restrictions on night-time events.

Dennie O’Connor of The White Horse Pub and Restaurant in St George, said: “I am encouraging the public to keep dining out, celebrating and enjoying life.

“This curfew is here for a reason, respect it, but don’t stop living your life.

“All this means is you come out a little earlier and go home a little earlier.”

The White Horse is open every day over the holiday and will offer brunches, live music and a range of DJs.

Mr O’Connor said staff had regular antigen Covid-19 tests and SafeKey rules were in force at the restaurant, which has covered outdoor and heating.

The 12.30am curfew will hit New Year celebrations as entertainment venues will have to shut well before midnight to give staff time to get home.

But The White Horse will offer a New Year’s Eve celebration from 6.30pm to 11pm, with live music from Working Title and Mohawk Radio.

Singer Hannah Eggan and DJ Rusty G will perform at a New Year’s Day brunch from 11am to 4pm.

Mr O’Connor said: “The news of the curfew is the final blow but we are here. We have decided to once again let our brunches take the place of the late night energy.

“It is safer, more fun and you can dress to impress and everyone can actually see you.”
