One gives back to community

One Communications gave more than $65,000 towards supporting local businesses, valued customers and charity this holiday season.

The company teamed up with more than 30 retailers across the island to reward customers for shopping local with 7,000 scratch-and-win cards during the month of December.

When making a purchase at any of the One Communications retail stores/kerbside, or any participating retail store, the customer received a card to scratch and win (as supplies lasted).

Prizes included an electric bike, TVs, a PS5, smartphones, food and beverage items, and gift cards for local retailers.

In addition, the company donated toys and grocery vouchers to the Family Centre and volunteered at the Salvation Army and Cathedral feeding programs.

There were $8,000 in toys and grocery vouchers given to the Family Centre; 4,420 food and drink items; 1,244 gift cards for goods from local businesses; and grand prizes of an electric bike, a PlayStation5, TVs and smartphones.

Frank Amaral, chief executive officer of One Communications, said: “We know this has been another tough year for the community and Bermuda economy and we wanted to ensure we gave back and encouraged everyone to shop local.

“We were very pleased to support our local businesses and charities as well as give back to our customers who support us year-round.”
