The importance of data privacy rights will be marked at a weeklong series of events this month.

Alexander White, the Privacy Commissioner, said the events were organised to coincide with Data Protection Day next Friday.

Mr White said: “We have created an agenda that includes items for professionals and all members of the community.”

There will be an online Zoom event from 3pm to 4pm next Tuesday designed to explore the importance of data privacy for small businesses.

Mr White said: “In addition, we often say that privacy is a booming industry – and to prove it we are hiring. On this day, our office will make a special announcement about a new senior leadership team member.”

The UK chapters of the International Association of Privacy Professionals will hold an event for privacy officers next Wednesday between 12.30pm and 1.30pm to discuss global trends for 2022. Registration is available here.

The Bermuda Economic Development Corporation will organise a lunchtime webinar from 12.30pm to 1.30pm featuring local expert Noel Pearman. Free registration is available here.

A virtual event will focus on data privacy issues for children and teenagers, with a discussion of rules and trends from both sides of the Atlantic.

The Bermuda chapter of the International Association of Privacy Professionals will meet for a virtual happy hour event from 5.30pm to 6.30pm.
