Business leaders to discuss post-Covid economic recovery
The Institute of Directors Bermuda will kick off its 2022 professional development programme with the in-depth panel discussion titled What Directors Need to Know for the Year to Come.
The event, held in conjunction with professional services firm KPMG in Bermuda, is free and will take place virtually from 4pm until 5.30pm on Thursday.
All members of the public are invited to attend and can register on the events page of the IoD Bermuda website at www.iod.bm/events.
The organisation said the informative and forward-thinking discussion will be moderated by Mike Morrison, CEO of KPMG in Bermuda.
The panel members are Nathan Kowalski, president, Bermuda Chamber of Commerce; Shanna Lespere, COO, Bermuda Monetary Authority; Will McCallum, head of tax, KPMG in Bermuda; and Sara Schroter, co-chairman, IoD Bermuda.
They will look ahead to key trends having an impact on company operations such as the pandemic, corporate environmental, social and governance, company culture and more.
Mr Morrison said: “2022 may well be an inflection point for the economy in Bermuda with a number of issues converging — economic recovery post-Covid (if you believe we are post-Covid), the ESG imperative, including a small island like Bermuda is part of an early warning system and is the natural fit as the climate risk capital of the world, as well as the fight for talent across many facets of business.
“It will be insightful hearing from this cross-section of industry leaders on what boards and directors need to be considering now. I look forward to leading the discussion.”
The IoD said a second panel discussion, also with KPMG, titled 2022 Eurasia Group’s Top 10 Geopolitical Risks, will take place next month.
IoD Bermuda is the island's leading resource for professionalism and excellence in boardrooms across all sectors of the economy and regularly partners with industry-leading organisations to deliver professional development as well as education and networking for both practising and aspiring company and non-profit directors, it said.
“Working with KPMG to offer this professional development session allows the IoD to work with a company vested in providing valuable learning opportunities for our leadership community,” Danielle Riviere, IoD Bermuda executive director, said.
“The importance of collaborating with local companies to deliver insight on trending topics ensures members have access to knowledge experts like the team at KPMG.”
