First Division sides facing tough FA Cup first round encounters
The five First Division teams were all pitted against Premier Division sides in the first round draw of the FA Cup at the Clyde Best Centre of Excellence, today.
Hamilton Parish, the First Division leaders, will meet Somerset Trojans, the nine-time winners of the cup, while BAA, are away to Devonshire Cougars and St David’s are at home to Robin Hood.
The other two First Division sides were drawn to meet teams battling against relegation from the Premier Division. Wolves will take on bottom team Somerset Eagles in the first game of a double-header at Wellington Oval on Sunay, February 13, while Boulevard travel to Southampton Rangers, who sit second from bottom.
The all-Premier Division encounters will see St George’s taking on North Village who have nine FA Cup titles, while eleven-time winners PHC play X-Roads, and Dandy Town are at home to Devonshire Colts.
All the matches will take place on the weekend of February 11 to 13 after being put back from the weekend of January 21 to allow make-up matches to be scheduled.
The last FA Cup champions were crowned in 2019 when Robin Hood defeated X-Roads 3-2. Hood also reached the 2019-2020 final and were due to play North Village but the season ended early two weeks early because of a surge in Covid cases, forcing the last round of league games as well as the FA final to be cancelled.
The 2021 final was also not played after the 2020-2021 season ended in December 2020.
This season’s quarter-finals are scheduled for March 12 and 13 with the semi-finals set to be played on March 23 and 24.
