Cable layer stops off in Bermuda

A cable ship was spotted steaming towards the island yesterday on her way to refuel and change its crew.
Peter Faber, a cable layer owned by Optic Marine, also known as the OMS group, sailed from the United States and berthed in Dockyard at about 8.30am.
She is expected to move to Hamilton before returning to the US East Coast to lay more cables.
The Peter Faber is a smaller cable-laying ship at 78 metres long, or 356 feet, and was built in 1982 by Euroflex Marine in Denmark.
She assists with cable maintenance in deep and shallow waters and is equipped for repairs, post-lay inspections and deep trenching work.
The French-registered Peter Faber is equipped with a ROVJet 403 submersible.
