Elbow Beach Hotel to sell off surplus furniture at weekend
Anyone with plans to redesign their living room should consider heading to a hotel this weekend.
For the Elbow Beach Hotel is to hold a sale today and tomorrow to dispose of surplus furniture and furnishings.
The sale was organised in collaboration with AOK Fitness Fundraising, a group that raises money to fund art education for children through conducting fitness classes.
AOK’s Instagram post said: “We are excited to host Elbow Beach Hotel’s final furniture and furnishings sale.
“Items for sale include sofas, beds, coffee tables, lamps, TV units, conference chairs and life vests.”
A percentage of the proceeds from the sale will go to AOK to support art education for children and to fund cancer research.
Elbow Beach Hotel closed in early 2020 after the Covid-19 pandemic hit and made all their staff redundant that same year.
The hotel has remained closed, despite an expectation it would re-open by 2021.
The Royal Gazette has reported that the owners attempted to sell the hotel in 2019 but were unsuccessful, which raised concerns over the future of the resort.
But Elbow Beach said the furniture sale was not an indication the hotel was slated for permanent closure.
An Elbow Beach spokesman said the sale was “to sell hotel items and non-hotel items no longer required by the company”.
The sale will be held from 9am to 3pm, today and tomorrow, at the Elbow Beach Hotel. Sales will be cash only.
