I have just read the article in today’s Royal Gazette (March 3, 2022) about The English Sports Shop and its “Dean of Retail” — David Hamshere.

The store completed a major renovation last year and maintained the warm, classic appearance we have known for so many years. As a regular customer in its ladies’ department, I know I can always find what I’m looking for. Great sweater selection!

A big reason for the shop’s success? It is quite simply the excellent customer service. When you enter the store, you are always greeted by the staff in a welcoming manner. You know they are happy to see you and appreciate your shopping there. They know who is keeping their doors open.

Unfortunately, good customer service is not always found these days. It is even more important now. Retail has been tough with competition from online purchasing. We all buy something online from time to time and forget that Amazon etc does not help keep Bermudians employed.

Well done, English Sports Shop; you will always be on my shopping list!
