Aon appoints Mike Merlo to oversee US and Bermuda claims

Aon has appointed Mike Merlo as its claims leader for the United States and Bermuda.

In his new role, Aon said, Mr Merlo will work with the firm’s claims leaders across all product lines to ensure that Aon is employing best practices in advocating for clients.

He also will be a primary contact for chief claims officers at insurers in the US and Bermuda to support clients on difficult claims.

Mr Merlo has worked at Aon for 18 years. Most recently, he was part of the firm’s US national casualty coverage advocacy and claims resolution practice, working with clients to secure the best possible outcomes from complex claims.

He will report to both Neil Harrison, Aon’s global chief claims officer, and Joe Peiser, head of commercial risk, North America.

“Aon is investing in a robust claims organisation to help clients realise the promise of insurance,” Mr Peiser said.

“Mike has a track record of advocating for clients when they need us most. He has experience working across all product lines and ensuring clients receive the best possible outcomes during their times of need.”
