Injury to child should be a wake-up call

Dear Sir,
Another accident! This one on Front Street involving a youngster on the back of a bike being hit by another bike.
A 12-year-old pillion passenger having to be admitted to hospital this week after the bike he was travelling on was crashed into by an overtaking bike rider on Front Street is the latest example of Bermudians’ reckless driving habits (Photograph by Blaire Simmons)
It didn’t have to happen. I trust the child will be OK. I have lost track of the recent crashes — and let’s face it, they all probably could have been avoided.
What does it take to improve our bad driving? Think about one of your family members getting that dreaded phone call from the police or the hospital. Or think about yourself in the back of an ambulance on your way to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and hoping and praying you get to come home.
The hospital seems to be short of beds a lot of the time, but I’ll bet the morgue has lots of room. Please slow down and drive carefully.
