Public Health Week to be marked from today
A careers fair, awards ceremony, panel discussion and workshop are to be held this week as part of Public Health Week.
The Department of Health has asked the public to participate in the series of virtual and in-person events taking place from April 4 to 8.
Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said: “I encourage everyone to join the Department of Health’s panel discussion and workshop, and those persons interested in a career in public health should attend the careers fair.”
Today: The Department of Health will hold a virtual panel discussion on health equity in Bermuda called What does Bermuda Need to do to Build Back Better? David Kendell, the director of the Department of Health, will moderate the discussion, which will be held from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
Wednesday: A virtual wellness workshop from 12.30pm to 1.45pm called What’s Your Mental Health Story? An Exploration of Self-hood and Steps Forward will be held. The workshop will be run by Jana Outerbridge, the founder of Mayvera Wellness, who has a doctorate in counselling psychology.
Thursday: The Department of Health will hold a public health careers fair at Hamilton City Hall from 10am to 3pm where people can learn about and careers in the field. There will be booths, giveaways and prizes.
The Public Health Awards will be handed over on the steps of City Hall from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
The awards recognise an individual and an organisation that have contributed to public health over the Covid pandemic.
