Easter comes early to hospitals as college gifts hot cross buns
Easter treats were handed out to health workers today as a show of appreciation for their efforts over the Covid-19 crisis.
Bermuda College culinary arts students delivered 1,000 hot cross buns to staff at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute.
Scott Pearman, the BHB deputy CEO, said: “I thank Bermuda College and in particular Dr Teneika Eve and her culinary arts students for this generous gesture.
He added: “The last two years have been difficult for our staff and the challenges persist.
“It is kind gestures like this that buoy our spirits and reinforce that each of us is truly valued by our community.”
Mr Pearman said: “We are very familiar with the high calibre of aspiring professional chefs emanating from the Bermuda College.
“Many have worked as trainees in our food services department. This gift is a great example of their baking expertise.”
Duranda Greene, the president of Bermuda College, added: “The community give-back is a wonderful way to say thank you to our healthcare workers.
“Thanks to chef Eve and our culinary arts students and to BHB for making this day so special for them.
“They all certainly deserve it. I am always grateful for the college’s continuous, collaborative partnership with BHB, which provides so many career pathway opportunities for Bermuda College’s students, especially our healthcare students.
“It’s good to be able to show our appreciation in this unique way.”
