Thank you for extra disabled spaces

Dear Sir,

During the month of December 2019, there were articles published in The Royal Gazette regarding the new disabled parking in the City of Hamilton. I understand many negative comments have been made on this subject.

On behalf of the physically challenged, I would like to thank the Corporation of Hamilton for the extra disabled parking spaces. These parking spaces make the difference between our being able to shop or not.

I have often returned home for lack of a disabled parking space, and then rely on friends and family to shop with, or for, me. This enables us to enjoy a little more independence and dignity by being able to do what everyone else takes for granted.

On a personal note, I am unable to use the newly installed parking meters in the three parking lots through the City of Hamilton.

I would also like to point out, to those unaware of the fact, we pay $25 a year for the disabled parking voucher, as well as having to use the EasyLink, which gives us two hours’ parking instead of one.

JULIE EDNEY
