Deloitte is launching a billion-dollar sustainability and climate practice.

Building upon decades of sustainability and climate client service, they are assembling one of the largest global networks of sustainability experience including an investment of $1 billion in client-related services, data-driven research, and assets and capabilities.

Deloitte’s sustainability and climate capabilities will support clients as they redefine their strategies, embed sustainability into their operations, meet tax, disclosure and regulatory requirements, and help them to accelerate transformation of their organisations and value chains.

“The time has come when acting on climate change is no longer an option — it is the right thing to do,” said John Johnston, chief executive officer of the Caribbean region and Bermuda. “Every person has a role to play, but the business community must lead the way.”

He said Deloitte has the means, abilities and influence to make an impact and to create a more sustainable community.

“Deloitte has created our sustainability and climate practice to hold us accountable for meeting the United Nations’ sustainable development goals and Paris Agreement commitments,” Mr Johnston said, “and to effectively facilitate action across the business community.”

The global practice will help clients to transform at scale with the launch of the new Deloitte Centre for Sustainable Progress.

In collaboration with leading academic, policy, business and governmental organisations, the DCSP network will focus on holistic, results-oriented thought leadership, data-driven analysis and accountability reporting to guide organisations through their sustainability journeys.

Deloitte will also build on its efforts of empowering individuals as part of its world climate strategy by offering a robust curriculum of sustainability training courses to all 345,000 professionals along with its clients and suppliers. The curriculum will be offered virtually and through the network of Deloitte Universities.

Jennifer Steinmann will serve as the first Deloitte global sustainability and climate leader.
