The island’s two public senior schools got the go-ahead to hold their respective sports days this week with staff and spectators.
The Berkeley Institute was approved for yesterday and today on its school field, while CedarBridge Academy’s athletics are set for the Flora Duffy Stadium today and tomorrow.
Both schools submitted their plans for safe events meeting Covid-19 protocols after meeting with Diallo Rabain, the education minister.
Mr Rabain called it “an important step towards normalcy”, noting Berkeley had not held a sports day since 2020, while CedarBridge had not since 2019.
“The holding of sports days is essential to the well-rounded development of our students, just as much in-class learning,” he said.
